We have a new service - FibroScan
FibroScan is an examination which uses a technology called Vibration Controlled Transient Elastography (VCTE), a non-invative test used to assess liver stiffness. The shear wave spedd or stiffness may be used as an aid to clinical management of your liver disease. The result is immedicate and shows the evolution of the health of your liver. It is not invasive and it is not painful.
If you have viral hepatitis, elavated liver enzymes/liver functions, cirrhosis, chronic liver disease, abnormal liver imaging, alcoholic liver disease, fatty liver disease, liver inflammation, and obesity, you can undergo FibroScan.
You lie on your back, with your right arm raised behind your head. Your technician applies a water-based gel to the skin and places the probe against your skin with a slight pressue.
The examination includes 10 or more consecutive measurements made at the same location. The result is delivered at the end of the examination. The provider will interpret your results along with your liver function test.
The entire test will require 10-20 minutes. Patients should wear a blouse or shirt which can be partically unbuttoned to expose their right side above the waist and below the breast bone.
